Export & Sharing Guide

Export Formats Overview

The Knowledge Assistant allows you to export responses in multiple formats for sharing, documentation, and further use. Each format preserves the content with appropriate formatting.

Exporting to Markdown

Markdown Export (.md)

Exports the response as a Markdown file. Preserves headers, lists, tables, code blocks, and other formatting. Ideal for technical documentation or platforms that support Markdown rendering.

File type: .md
Best for: GitHub, Notion, technical docs, developers

What's Included in Markdown Export

  • Full response text with formatting
  • Tables in Markdown table format
  • Code blocks with syntax highlighting markers
  • Links to source documents

Exporting to DOCX

Word Document Export (.docx)

Exports the response as a Microsoft Word document. Tables are converted to native Word tables, and formatting is preserved for easy editing and sharing in professional settings.

File type: .docx
Best for: Client reports, email attachments, editing

What's Included in DOCX Export

  • Formatted text with headings and lists
  • Native Word tables with borders
  • Consistent professional styling
  • Editable format for customization

Sharing via Google Docs

Google Docs Export

Creates a new Google Doc with the response content. The document is created in your Google Drive and can be immediately shared or collaborated on. Tables are converted to native Google Docs tables.

Format: Google Doc (cloud-based)
Best for: Collaboration, sharing links, team review

Google Docs Features

  • Native Google Docs tables (not text-based)
  • Direct link to share with others
  • Automatic saving in your Drive
  • Real-time collaboration support

Copying to Clipboard

Copy Response

Copies the response to your clipboard as plain text. Quick way to paste content into emails, chat messages, or other applications.

Format: Plain text
Best for: Quick sharing, pasting into other apps

Best Practices for Sharing

For Client Communications

  • Use DOCX for email attachments
  • Use Google Docs for collaborative review
  • Review and edit content before sending
  • Add your own context or introduction

For Internal Documentation

  • Use Markdown for technical wikis
  • Use Google Docs for team knowledge bases
  • Include links to source documents for reference

For Quick Sharing

  • Use Copy for Slack messages or emails
  • Tables may not format well in plain text—consider DOCX for table-heavy content

Tips

  • Check formatting: Always review exported content before sharing, especially if it contains tables or complex formatting.
  • Add context: Responses are generated for internal use—add appropriate context when sharing externally.
  • Verify data: For time-sensitive data (prices, AUM), verify the information is still current before sharing.
  • Include sources: When appropriate, include or link to the source documents cited in the response.
